Cultivating one’s spiritual growth outside of our liturgies is important and here at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we strive to provide our parishioners with various opportunities to explore ways for them to grow in a deeper relationship with God.
Our annual Lenten Series typically involves inviting guest speakers, such as theologians, clergy, authors, or other experts in spirituality, to give talks or presentations on topics relevant to Lenten themes, spiritual growth, and Catholic living. These speakers offer insights into scripture, provide guidance on prayer and meditation practices, share personal testimonies of faith, or address social justice issues from a Christian perspective. Each session may include a time for Q&A or discussion to engage participants in deeper reflection on the topic. We pair our speaking sessions with “Soup Suppers,” simple meals that symbolizing the spirit of fasting and solidarity with the poor, as well as the communal aspect of coming together as a faith community.
Our Annual Parish Mission takes place in the fall and is led by an expert who delivers presentations and reflections focused on faith, discipleship and living the Gospel more fully. The Mission is a special time of spiritual renewal and enrichment for the entire faith community.
Men’s and Women’s Retreats take place annually and include guided spiritual reflections, prayer sessions, and opportunities for silent contemplation. Participants engage in scripture reading and the sacraments, as well as activities designed to deepen their understanding of their faith and relationship with God.
Our Spiritual Book Club meets monthly via Zoom. The group meets regularly to read, discuss and reflect on books related to spirituality, religion, faith and personal growth. During the meetings, members share their thoughts, insights, questions and reflections of the subject book. Click HERE for the book schedule.
