“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’ ”
Acts 2:38
We look forward to welcoming your child into our faith in the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism. At Our Lady of Mount Carmel, we celebrate baptisms on the second and fourth Sunday of the month. The Sacrament of Baptism is not celebrated during Lent.
Prior to your first child being baptized, you will need to attend a one hour Baptismal Preparation class, which is generally offered on the last Monday of every month via Zoom. You may take the class well in advance of the baptism date and even prior to your child’s birth.
To get started, fill out the Request for Infant Baptism. We will then contact you with available dates for the Baptism, as well as the Baptism Preparation class.
The suggested donation for Infant Baptism is $100.00
In preparing for your child’s baptism, you should choose a Godparent or Godparents who will support you in raising your child in a life of Faith. At least one Godparent must be a Catholic over the age of 16 who has received the sacrament of Confirmation. If a Godparent is not able to be present at the ceremony, you may have a proxy stand in for him or her.
If you have questions related to infant Baptisms at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, contact [email protected] or call 773-249-7080.
