The Choir of Our Lady of Mount Carmel
The “Morning Choir” is an excellent ensemble of experienced singers with music reading ability. It presents a great variety of choral literature during the season including Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony; works of Bach, Haydn, Mozart; contemporary masters such as Britten, Howells, and Pärt; and music from the Orthodox/Byzantine traditions. In addition to the two pipe organs, at various times during the year strings, brass, winds, and harp will accompany the ensemble. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings and sings each Sunday morning at the 11:00 am Mass from the first Sunday in October through Corpus Christi in June.

The Contemporary Choir
This vibrant ensemble sings a varied piano-based repertoire of contemporary Catholic music on Sunday evenings at the 4:30 pm Mass, with rehearsals on Thursday evenings. A varied roster of flutes, oboes, and strings accompany the choir each week. As this choir is principally present during the seasons of Advent-Christmas and Lent-Easter, it appeals to singers who are interested in a less rigorous time commitment. The Contemporary Choir welcomes singers from either extensive or limited musical/choral backgrounds, and the ability to read music is helpful, but not required.
All choirs are under the direction of Music Director Paul French, and each choir welcomes new members throughout the year. All interested singers are invited to contact the music office for further details.
